Piranesi Prix
Tivoli, Italy
This past Fall 2017, the University of Miami School of Architecture joined the Premio Piranesi Prix de Rome in its Twelfth Edition of the "Villa Adriana International Museography Seminar Design Competition." The program requirements were to incorporate a design intervention that improved aesthetic appreciation, legibility, and accessibility. Another aspect was the use of water within architecture. Students from all around the world worked together as teams in Tivoli, Italy to create a space holding a contemporary art museum, thermal bath, and recreation area.
I was part of a group of five Italian girls and two American girls, including myself. We proposed a design that overlooked the beauty of the Canopo within a forest of olive trees. Two open spaces on either side of the contemporary art museum act as the recreation space with six pods of thermal baths adjacently connected to the museums. We presented our design in front of a panel of judges and were given the Honorable Mention reward with a 4,000 euro scholarship to the Accademia Adrianea.
